Privacy Policy
TruthMeter is a private-beta trust and price verification service. This policy explains how we handle information submitted through our website and during a review.
Information We Collect
We may collect your name, email address, phone number, location, service request, and communications with us. Evidence may include receipts, invoices, quotes, screenshots, product or service details, vendor or agent names and phone numbers, bank name and account-name information, business claims, and other information you choose to provide.
Documents and Third-Party Information
Uploaded documents may contain information about another person or business. Only submit information relevant to your request and that you are authorised to share. Do not submit passwords, PINs, card security codes, login credentials, government identity numbers, or unrelated medical or financial records.
How We Use Information
We use information to assess requests, contact you, conduct agreed checks, prepare reports, investigate corrections, prevent misuse, improve the beta, maintain records, and comply with legal obligations. We may use de-identified and aggregated observations to improve our price database and services.
Consent and Lawful Use
By submitting a request, you consent to processing needed to respond and perform the requested service. Where appropriate, we may also process information to fulfil a contract, protect legitimate interests such as fraud prevention, or comply with law. You may withdraw consent where consent is the applicable basis, although this will not affect earlier lawful processing.
Storage, Security, and Sharing
Website submissions are processed through our hosting and form provider, Netlify, and may be accessed by authorised TruthMeter personnel and service providers who support hosting, storage, communications, or research. We use reasonable organisational and technical safeguards, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Retention and Deletion
We retain waitlist information while the beta is relevant or until you unsubscribe. Review requests, evidence, reports, and related communications are retained only as long as reasonably needed for the service, corrections, disputes, security, and legal obligations. We will establish and refine documented retention periods during beta. You may request deletion; we will comply unless retention is reasonably required by law, security, an unresolved dispute, or the defence of legal claims.
Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, update, restrict, object to processing of, or delete your personal information, and may request a portable copy where applicable. You can also ask how information was used or withdraw from beta communications.
Vendor and Agent Information
Vendors and agents may request access to material information about them, submit a response, provide evidence, or request correction. We may withhold information where disclosure would violate another person's rights, expose confidential sources, undermine fraud prevention, or be prohibited by law.
Contact and Complaints
Send privacy, deletion, or correction requests through the official contact channel provided in your TruthMeter correspondence. We may need to verify your identity before acting. You may also complain to the relevant Nigerian data-protection authority where applicable.
